Dr. Wenli Jen Crowned Ms. California, Woman of Achievement

South Pasadena, CA – On Sunday, contestants from California competed for the coveted titles of Miss Pre-Teen Achieve, Miss Teen Achieve, Miss California, Ms. California and Ms. Elite California at the South Pasadena Community Room.

Dr. Wenli Jen, Ms. Alhambra, was crowned Ms. California, Woman of Achievement. The pageant’s commitment to recognizing women of achievement was apparent with the number of successful and active leaders who represented their cities.

Dr. Jen received one of the highest scores in her interview with the panel of judges. Contestants were judged on their platform presentation, interviews, talent, fitness wear, and evening gown. Ms. California wore a turquoise and gold silk dress and presented an excerpt of her TED talk, Dare to be my Age, for her talent portion to showcase her years in motivational speaking. Out of all of the contestants from the different categories, Dr. Jen received the highest score for fitness, which highlighted her love for meditation and hip-hop dance.

She was sponsored by individuals and businesses in the city of Alhambra and surrounding San Gabriel Valley, including Ryan Hopkins, Jay Zapanta, hair stylist Jenniffer, purePhoria, The Daily Blossom Florist, and Vince Wong from Nerium.

Ms. California is involved with many community organizations including Rethinking Alcohol and Drugs (RAD) coalition and Rosemead Education Foundation. She has been active in serving as a member for PBS SoCal Community Council and the National Women’s Political Caucus – LA Metro.

Dr. Jen has been a resident of SGV for over 30 years and has attended prestigious universities including UC Irvine, Harvard University and USC. She is currently a nonprofit program director, professor of public heath and business, and co-founder of Open Concept Event Production with her business partner Rosaline Zaw.
